Helping children feel their best, while giving parents the time, answers and support they need.

Professor Dr Peter Jones is a highly experienced Paediatrician who genuinely enjoys getting to know children and their families.

With almost 30 years of experience, Professor Jones has cared for children from newborns through to teenagers across Queensland and New South Wales, as well as internationally in the UK, USA and Solomon Islands.

He brings a wealth of experience to his consultations, but his approach is simple: listen carefully, understand what is happening for your child, and work with your family to find a way forward.

How can Dr Peter Jones help?

Professor Jones sees children with a wide range of health, developmental and behavioural concerns, including:

  • Asthma and allergies
  • Infant and early childhood health
  • Developmental concerns
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Learning difficulties
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Behavioural concerns

He has completed additional training in child development, autism assessment and cognitive behavioural therapy, helping him provide thoughtful, evidence-based care for children and families.

Experience you can trust

Dr Peter Jones has a strong background in both clinical care and medical education. He has completed a PhD in asthma and allergy, published more than 70 scientific papers and previously held senior leadership roles in medical education, including Dean of Bond University’s Medical School.

He has also worked extensively in the Solomon Islands and has been recognised for his contribution to improving healthcare and medical education there.

But for families, perhaps the most important part of his experience is the years spent simply listening to children, getting to know families and helping work out what they need next.

Time to listen

We know that bringing your child to a specialist can feel like a big step — and that there can be a lot to explain.

That’s why appointments with Professor Jones are 45 minutes long.

There’s time to talk through what you’ve noticed, look at your child’s history and development, answer your questions and make a plan together.

Where needed, Professor Jones can also provide detailed reports to help families access additional health, education and community supports.

The referral must be valid for the date of your appointment. Referrals cannot be backdated for Medicare purposes.

Your GP’s referral gives Professor Jones some background about your child and what you’d like help with. It can also include relevant medical history, medications, investigations or other information that may be useful for the consultation.

A valid referral is also required if you wish to claim the Medicare rebate for the specialist consultation.

Previous medical records

Has your child seen Professor Jones before at another practice?

Yes — we need their previous medical records before their appointment.

If Professor Jones has previously seen your child at another medical centre, please arrange for their medical records to be transferred to Medical on Robina before their appointment.

You can do this by:

1. Completing the Request for Medical Records form using the link in the SMS sent to your phone; or

2. Emailing paeds@medicalonrobina.com.au and we’ll send the form to you.

Once you’ve completed and signed the form, you’ll need to email it directly to the previous practice.

Unfortunately, we can’t request the records on your behalf.

It’s important that Professor Jones has these records before seeing your child. If the records haven’t arrived, the appointment may need to be cancelled or rescheduled.

Getting ready for your appointment

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come in.

It can be helpful to bring along any information you have that may give Professor Jones a better picture of your child’s health, development or day-to-day life, such as:

  • Current medications or supplements
  • Previous medical or specialist reports
  • Assessment reports
  • School or learning reports
  • Previous test or investigation results
  • Information about developmental or behavioural concerns
  • Any questions or concerns you’d particularly like to discuss

And if you have a list of questions, bring it with you. There are no silly questions when it comes to your child.
