FAQ – The Juliet Laser

Do I need to take the day off work?

No – Normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. It is recommend that patients can return to work if you DO-NOT have a job that requires strenuous activities. Always ask if you are unsure.

How long does the procedure take?

It takes no more that 10 minutes and requires no pre or post operative care.

Does it hurt?

Most patients report no discomfort other than a warming sensation, there is usually no need for local anaesthetic.

What to expect after?

Some patients have a slight burning when urinating and a small amount of discharge (which can be slightly pink, but not to worry about)

How many sessions are required?

In most cases, satisfactory results can be obtained after the first session, with no need for further treatment. A second session may be recommended to maximise the results or depending on the severity of the symptoms a further treatment maybe recommended after a few months.

How long until after the treatment can I have sex?

It is recommended that you wait for at least 72 hours after the procedure.

Is it safe?

The Juliet laser is similar to the lasers that are now being used for facial treatments and dental procedures, so it has actually been used in other parts of the body for many years, so you can be assured of its safety. For a treatment like this to be approved for human use it has to go through several years of testing and strict approval processes.

Can I have this treatment whilst pregnant?

No it is not advised.

Is this safe to have if I have the Herpes Simplex Virus?

This treatment may trigger a breakout of the herpes virus so if you are required your Dr may recommend a treatment of antiviral.
